Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council have scheduled to walk Beating the Bounds on Wednesday 20 August 2025 and everyone is welcome to join.

The walk will start from Meldon village hall (EX20 4LU), departing promptly at 10am.

At the start there will be some refreshments and breakfast rolls available for purchase from 9am(ish) kindly provided by Okehampton Carnival committee.
North Dartmoor search and rescue will have an information table with merchandise and information.

The walk is roughly 11 miles across high open moorland.

The walk is strenuous and must NOT be undertaken by anyone not capable of finishing it.

Please bring all your own walking gear, waterproofs, etc., plus a mug/beaker for a refreshment around halfway.

A pasty will also be provided at halfway for everyone (meat and vegetarian options).

The walk is free, donations welcome which will go to North Dartmoor search and rescue (also participating).

There will be a walk leader and a back marker.

Friendly dogs are welcome but MUST be kept on a lead at all times.

It is expected to finish by 5pm.

Please note there is no transport provided, so you need to get to Meldon and back from the finish (Halstock Corner SX602936).
