PRESS RELEASE
Okehampton, Devon — 11 September 2025 — Okehampton Business Improvement District (BID) is proud to announce a new partnership with design pitch, an Oke based digital collective, to help deliver the BID’s five-year plan and ensure Okehampton continues to thrive as a place to live, work, shop, and visit.
The BID has partnered with design pitch to bring specialist expertise directly to the town’s businesses. By working together, the BID can offer support in marketing, communications, and digital transformation, helping local businesses adapt, grow, and attract more customers. This approach allows the BID to deliver on its key priorities: promoting Okehampton more effectively to bring in visitors and encourage longer stays, supporting businesses with practical training and collaborative opportunities to drive growth and jobs, and ensuring the town is accessible, welcoming, and easy to navigate for residents and visitors alike.
The decision to work with design pitch reflects both local knowledge and professional experience. Founded by brand specialist Mike Santiago-Griggs, who brings two decades of commercial experience across development and marketing, Design Pitch has evolved into a Devon-based collective offering a full range of services including marketing strategy, technology, copywriting, and graphic design. Mike and his team are passionate about supporting rural businesses, providing accessible solutions for small and micro enterprises, and combining face-to-face training with innovative digital tools.
Businesses will have the chance to meet the BID team and members of the design pitch collective at the upcoming “Unlock Free Training & Grants for Your Business” event, taking place at Okehampton College on Wednesday, 17th September from 4–6pm. Attendees will learn how to save on training costs, access free qualifications such as Level 2 Food Hygiene, and discover capital grants available to support business growth. The event is also an opportunity to see how the BID and design pitch partnership is delivering practical, lasting benefits to the local business community.
Kathy James-Castle, BID Manager, said: “This partnership with design pitch is an important step forward in delivering tangible benefits for local businesses. From digital marketing support to practical training, our aim is to help Okehampton’s businesses feel stronger, smarter, and ready for the future. Together, we want to ensure our high street remains vibrant, welcoming, and central to community life.”
